The total investment of Haining Gaodian Sofa Industrial Zone is about 2.5 billion RMB, and it is estimated that the yearly output will be more than 20 billion RMB, with foreign exchange earning of 2.5-3 billion USD. The Zone is supposed to cover 6.7 square kilometers and about thirty sofa or related joint-enterprises will be set up in five years, which is to be finished in three periods. Thirty thousand staff will be employed altogether. The first period covers two square kilometers and eight enterprises began to be built in September 2003 and went into operation in August 2004. The programs during the second period will be put into effect during the second half of the year 2004. six-eight enterprises will invest here, covering two square kilometers. At the same time, the public infrastructure will be constructed. The third period will be finished in 2006, covering 2.7 square kilometers.
